Role: Speech-Language Pathologist                          Job Type: Full-Time

Sound Expression Speech & Language Services is looking for a highly motivated, creative and energetic Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to add as a dynamic member to their team. The SLP will provide flexible work hours based on client convenience and will provide services at the clinic, in the client’s home, and/or in the community.

Sound Expression Speech & Language Services is a growing private Speech-Language Pathology practice that strives to provide functional, relevant, and evidence-based support to people with communication difficulties. We offer assessment and treatment for preschool children, school age children, adolescents, and adults of all ages in a variety of areas (e.g. Voice Therapy, Articulation, Motor Speech Disorders, Language Based Learning Difficulties, Acquired Brain Injury, Aphasia Therapy, Fluency, Concussion Management, Swallowing Disorders). We work closely with our clients, their family and other professionals to develop programs and supports that are customized to meet our client’s specific and individual communication needs. We are client-centered and ensure that our client’s goals, roles, responsibilities and interests are incorporated into the therapy sessions.  Our goal is to offer our target populations superior service leading to a meaningful change in their lives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administer assessments to clients of various ages (preschool, children and adult)
  • Provide one on one and group speech therapy to clients of various ages (preschool, children and adult)
    • Carry a diverse caseload (e.g. Acquired Brain Injury, Stroke, Preschool Language, Language Disorders, Voice, Fluency)
    • Track and report on client progress
    • Use creativity to develop functional and client centered materials
    • Participate in team meetings
    • Provide families with resources, information and home programming
  • Track and submit workload statistics
  • Maintain complete records in accordance with the rules and regulations of CASLPO
  • Apply knowledge and use evidence-based practices
  • Possible supervision of a Communicative Disorders Assistant
  • Participation in other clinic activities, including projects, research and clinical meetings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Registered with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Professional Liability Insurance
  • Car, valid driver’s license, and appropriate insurance coverage (travel is required)
  • Availability to work some evening hours

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of clinical work experience providing assessment and therapy to individuals with communication and/or swallowing disorders
  • Clinical experience working with both adults and children
  • Strong skills in the following areas:
    • Analytical (e.g., ability to use deductive and inductive reasoning coupled with past and/or new knowledge in order to accurately assess and treat complex individuals)
    • Flexibility (e.g., ability to respond to unplanned changes in client needs)
    • Strong Organization and Time Management Skills
    • Creativity (e.g., ability to “invent” effective new approaches or procedures)
    • Friendliness (e.g., ability to interact comfortably with clients and other professionals)
    • Verbal and Written Communication (e.g., ability to concisely and accurately express analysis and opinions in an organized manner that is meaningful to the reader/listener)
